Not male pretty. Girl pretty, but thankfully not in that drag-queen kind of way. He looks kind of like a traditional china doll, only not creepy. With pale skin, I hate to use the term ‘doe-like’ brown eyes and long jet black hair. He’s not overly tall, wiki says that he’s 5’1”, but going from the official fan books he’s about 5’4”. Most people when meeting him for the first time will probably think that he's a girl. His mannerisms are very polite and feminine and so it adds to the feminine effect. If you don't think your character would see him as a girl first off, please let me know. Background: Haku is a ninja from the Hidden Village of Mist in the Water Country, born in one of the more snowy regions that was plagued constantly by battles between the various ninja factions. His mother, part of a ninja bloodline that could control water and ice to devastating effect, was forced to hide her abilities as her bloodline were hunted down and blamed for the worst travesties of the war. Years later, Haku’s bloodline abilities began to appear and his father was furious. Consumed by hate for his family, he killed his wife and went after Haku. The boy, frightened for his life, used his control over ice to protect himself, killing his father in the process. Fleeing his home, Haku lived on the streets, getting food wherever and however he could until he was found by Zabuza Momochi, a ninja from the Hidden Mist village. Zabuza immediately recognized Haku for his bloodline limit, which he could use in his plan to take over the Hidden Mist Village, and took him under his wing. Haku was only happy to be needed, and lived his life to be the perfect tool that Zabuza wanted. Haku learned all the skills of a ninja and those of the medical ninja as well in his time in the village with Zabuza, honing these skills along with the abilities of his bloodline. Even with all of Zabuza’s influence on the young boy, Haku never picked up any of the older ninja’s gruff mannerisms; he stayed sweet and kind, not killing those he fought, but leaving it all to Zabuza. Some years later, Zabuza's plan was discovered and the two fled the ninja village, evading the hunters and assassins sent after them. At one point, while in the Wave country, they were hired by a corrupt shipping boss, named Baki, who wanted them to kill an architect from that country who was building a large bridge that would connect the island nation to the mainland and make his shipping company obsolete. The architect in question knew he was being targeted and hired Naruto, Kakashi, Sasuke and Sakura (the series’ main characters) to escort him back the Wave Country where Zabuza waited to ambush them. Haku hid himself away during the fight until it was apparent that Zabuza was losing; stepping in disguised as a masked Mist Village Hunter ninja, he appeared to kill Zabuza before spiriting himself and the larger man back to their hideout. When Baki and his gang showed up at the hideout to demand Zabuza return to work, Haku broke the mob boss’ hand as he reached for Zabuza and before his men could react, Haku pulled the captains’ own swords on them, telling them all quite forcefully that they would leave Zabuza alone. Gathering herbs to help Zabuza’s injuries, Haku ran into Naruto passed out in the woods. Briefly seeming to be reaching to strangle the young ninja, Haku instead woke him and chided him gently for falling asleep in the open. The two spoke briefly, Naruto never suspecting that Haku was his enemy since Haku had been wearing a mask when he'd rescued Zabuza. Haku told Naruto about his goals to only live for his ‘special someone’ and that it was his only reason for being, advising the young boy to find his own special someone to live for. Naruto kept calling Haku “big sis” during their conversation and as Haku left, he quite impishly pointed out to Naruto that he was really a boy; seeming to enjoy watching the younger ninja spaz. On the last day of building, Haku and Zabuza waited in ambush for the bridge architect and the ninjas from Konoha. While Zabuza and Kakashi fought, Haku took on both Naruto and Sasuke, using his bloodline limit to trap the two in a prison of ice mirrors. He disabled Sasuke as he had done with Zabuza previously, making it seem like the boy was dead, which enraged Naruto to the point that he was able to overpower Haku. Feeling that he had failed Zabuza as a weapon, Haku nearly gave up, though he stopped when he realized that Kakashi had trapped Zabuza and was about to finish him off. Abruptly turning the tide of his own battle, Haku apologized to Naruto, explaining that he couldn't let the blond boy beat him, and disabled him to rush off to protect Zabuza, jumping in front of Kakashi's attack. In canon, Haku took the full brunt of Kakashi’s attack for Zabuza and it killed him, blowing a hole in his chest. For Fandom, the combination of Haku and Kakashi’s chakra working against each other severely wounded the younger man to the point that everyone believed him dead. Soon after, the fight took a major turn and Zabuza stopped fighting to join the other ninja to fight against Baki, who had shown up with an army of goons. They then discovered that Haku wasn’t really dead, but only because Baki kicked the boy, causing him to regain consciousness. Enraged, Zabuza tore through Baki’s army, killing or frightening them all until they were gone. Even though Haku and Zabuza were still wanted criminals, because of Haku’s injury and Zabuza’s help with Baki, they were let go. After Haku recovered, Zabuza decided that it was not safe for the boy to travel with him. He knew that Haku wouldn’t leave him just because Zabuza told him to, so he arranged it for Haku to be sent to Fandom High, to further the training that Zabuza could not give him. | |
